Why Welded Wire Partitions are Better than Chain Link Fences

Welded wire partitions and chain link fencing are both used in areas that require a high measure of safety and security. Both are versatile and create secure environments for employees, customers and the general public.

Welded wire partitions offer a convenient means to quickly section and secure large floor areas. The many welds distributed across the entire partition panel, which gives them a remarkable rigidity and stability.

Chain link fencing is the best-selling fencing system in the world. Less expensive than welded wire partitions, chain link offers a durable, economical fencing system and has many commercial and residential applications.

How do welded wire mesh panels compare to chain link fencing?

1. Welded Wire Partitions vs. Chain Link Fences

Unlike chain link fences, wire partitions can be relocated and reassembled using nothing more than your standard hand tools. This flexibility really simplifies layout changes, allowing welded wire partitions to be reconfigured to your needs.

However, the installation of welded wire partitions generally requires more precise planning than chain link fencing, which can be frustrating. Conversely, chain link fencing is much easier to install but harder to relocate. Once fixed in place, they're not easy to remove.

As a security barrier, welded wire partitions are harder to breach. To create an opening in a chain link fence, as little as 5 to 10 cuts using bolt cutters is enough. To get through a wire partition panel, you would need up to 40 cuts with something more effective than bolt cutters.

If a partition is damaged, you just need to remove and replace the old panel. If part of a chain link fencing is damaged, you would need to replace a very large section, or the whole thing.

Another advantage of wire partitions is its all-welded construction. The welded wire mesh is made with heavy gauge steel wire, and the structure is supported by posts welded to base plates. This helps the partition panel to maintain its shape and strength for years. A coat of anti-corrosive material also ensures its longevity.

And unlike a chain link fence, with no apparent footholds or handholds welded wire partitions can't be easily climbed like a fence.

2. Wire Partitions and Long Term Savings

Perhaps what really separates welded wire partitions and chain link fencing is cost.

The short-term cost for wire partitions may be more. But their adaptability allows them to satisfy both your immediate and future needs. And if you need to move to larger facilities, welded wire partitions can be brought with you.

The cost-effectiveness of chain link fencing comes from the quality of the wire. A lower wire gauge affects a fence's capacity and longevity as a security barrier. Chain link fences often need replacing every ten years just to maintain their appearance.

When you consider their durability and low maintenance requirements, welded wire partitions end up being less expensive than chain link fences over the long term.
