What is Low-Carbon Steel?

weld ability and ductility. Low-carbon steel has a carbon
content of about 0.30 weight percent.

Characteristics of Low-Carbon Steel

match or exceed the base metal in strength.

Its tensile strength can be improved by adding trace amounts
of niobium. But it can take a lot of abuse without catastrophic
failure.
Low-carbon steel mesh partitions has the same properties as
iron but is softer and easier to form. But like iron, it has
a low resistance to corrosion, which may limit its applications.
Special coatings such as phosphating can be applied
to increase its suitability and durability.
