Installing Wire Mesh Partitions

Wire mesh partitions are designed to be installed relatively easily. Generally, manufacturers require a simple hand drawing outlining the area to be enclosed or partitioned. But to ensure a seamless integration and an exact fit, a more precise planning is recommended.

Before ordering, be sure to measure exact distances. Determining panel dimensions and taking account of irregularities such as uneven floors or ductwork will avoid frustration later when installing your wire mesh partitions.

Drawing your Wire Mesh Partitions Plan

When designing the configuration of your wire mesh partitions, the following information should be noted in your floor plan drawings:
  • Consider that floors and ceilings have inexact heights along their length. If you are not sure about the height of the wire partitions, you're better off playing it safe. Allow for some clearance from the ceiling to ensure a smooth installation.
  • Pipes, ducts, beams, or other structural obstructions around which the partition must fit. Measure these locations and their elevations. This also includes cutouts for pipes, ducts, and beams.
  • The exact distances between walls - up to 1/8 of an inch - if you plan to install a partition between existing walls. Again, use the same logic as you would with panel heights.
  • Openings such as doors and service windows. Don't forget to include the type of doors (sliding or doors), the hinge side, swing direction (if applicable) and the key side. It's also important to take post positioning into account. Posts must be used between each wire partition panel, on both sides of a door, and in a corner.

Installation Tips for Wire Mesh Partitions

Manufacturers of wire partitions always provide installation instructions with your order. All wire partition parts are shipped ready to assemble. It usually requires at least two people using nothing more than standard tools to get the job done. Below are some helpful hints that can ensure a smooth installation:
  • Clear the installation area of any obstructions. Use chalk lines to help line up partition panels and posts.
  • Lay out all the parts where they are to go. Begin your installation at a wall, at a corner, or an end of a post.
  • As you are setting up your wire partition panels, check all the connections from time to time and adjust as necessary.
Wire mesh partitions offer a convenient means to quickly partition and section large floor areas.
Once installed, combined with the posts welded base plates, provide unequaled strength and security.
